Healthcare IoT: Are HIPAA and FDA ready?

Healthcare has always been a sensitive area for adoption of any new technology, and rightly so. IoT in healthcare will go through the same cycles, if not longer, as all the current medical technologies we are used to right now. It wont just be about the privacy of data being collected and analyzed by such devices, but also about the physical security of the devices themselves. HIPAA already has very detailed guidelines for how data needs to be stored and who can have access to it, but new approaches will need to be figured out soon. The opportunity for a better quality of life offered by IoT is very real and both FDA and HIPAA will need to be prepared to make them mainstream in the most secure way possible.
